Job Summary

The Accounts Assistant reports to the Account Executive in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department. The Accounts Assistant will work closely with the Accounts Executives to prepare the financial records for the operations team. He/she covers duties such as work that is specific to accounts receivable, accounts payable, tax filing, data compilation, billing, payroll or other accounting tasks. He/she assists with the preparation of trial balance, basic financial statements and simple consolidated financial statements. This position requires the individual to perform clerical accounting procedures, some of which require familiarity with, and experience in, accounting office practices as well as knowledge of accounting classifications. He/she may be called on to participate in ad-hoc finance-related projects and systems testing when necessary.

Duties & Responsibilities

Accounts Assistant can expect to focus their work on the following areas:

  • Provide support for partial sets of accounts (AP/AR)
  • Verifies the accuracy of invoices, payments and other accounting documents or records
  • Process transactions such as disbursements, expense vouchers, cash receipts etc.
  • Generate reports to validate transactions
  • Maintain vendor / customer accounts and perform the invoice / billing process
  • Manage and maintain cash items, and provide accountability through meticulous recording
  • Assist in month-end closing activities
  • Prepare monthly and annual reports for relevant stakeholders on a timely basis
  • Investigate questionable or irreconcilable differences and report these issue to the appropriate stakeholders
  • Scanning and filing of accounting documents
  • May be tasked duties from other accounting projects where required
  • Other duties may be assigned


The Accounts Assistant position typically requires the following qualifications:

  • Diploma in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited polytechnic or tertiary
  • Require basic knowledge of financial terms and principles
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented aptitude; a high degree of accuracy is required
  • Ability to understand and carry out general instruction in standard situations. Require basic analytical and quantitative skills. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Basic experience with Google Apps & Microsoft Office Suite (especially Microsoft Excel)
  • Ability to learn and adapt towards procedural changes, and multiple tools or software
